I've decided to commit to doing some hang gliding instruction. It's motivating to be back flying where I learned to fly 16 years ago and now have the desire to teach others to learn such a unique past-time that changed my life.
So to do it right, I'm heading down to Florida for a "scooter-tow" clinic where they teach us how to teach people to fly by towing them up using a modified scooter winch. It sounds a bit crazy but it's by far the easiest and safest and quickest way to learn to hang glide. You (the student) can come out to fly with ZERO previous experience and after a short lesson, get you in the air (5' max...but it's a start)
Besides, March is a great time to head south to thaw out and get a bit of personal air-time to start off the season right. It's been a long winter....I haven't flown since October's Ecuador trip.
The season has recently kicked into full-swing down there and they've been getting some great flights. I wish I could stay down for the upcoming comps....but not this year. I'm lucky enough to be able to go down for this short trip.
