Tournament Rules

I hate rules...but you got to have them. There are lots of variations but here are the basics and how tournament play goes.
  1. Seats are assigned at random. Seat changes are not permitted.
  2. You can only buy back in once you are completely out of chips.
  3. The tournament ends when one player accumulates all the chips in play. We'll probably have cash prizes for the top three finishers and maybe some random draw prizes.
  4. If two or more players are eliminated on the same hand, the player with more chips at the beginning of the hand is placed higher. If players started the hands with an identical amount of chips, both players tie for that rank, and any prizes due to those players will be equally distributed between them.
  5. You can never skip having the big blind button. This sometimes happens when the player to your right gets eliminated when they are the Big Blind (ie next hand they would have been the Small Blind). Instead of you getting the Small Blind and passing on the Big Blind, you become the big blind and the player that just was the small blind becomes the dealer and there is no Small Blind for that hand.
  6. When two players remain, the button will post the small blind, and act first on the opening round.
  7. As players are eliminated from the tournament, we try to balance the tables to ensure all tables have an equal number (or as close as possible) number of active players. To try to keep it so noone gets stuck with being the Blinds out of turn the player from the table with more players that is in the same position relative to the button as the eliminated player will be the one chosen to move to that chair.
  8. We will play "No Limit" Texas Hold'em so there is no limit to the raises.
  9. Eliminated Players will be allowed to re-buy in to the tournament as often as they wish until the Buy-in Cut-off time.
